Louise / Mom
Hello... & Merry Christmas!

Once again Ted and I were lucky to get away to Mexico ... January, 2014. What a nice place to spend time with our friends!

While we were away our friend, Ron, replaced my kitchen counter tops! I was sure thrilled to walk in at 2 a.m. and see the results! The winter passed quickly... Ted and I also enjoyed some ski doo rides - and our new hot tub!

We always return home relaxed, after our stay in Las Brisas!

We had a bit of a stressful start to our vacation. Just prior to takeoff, Ted accidently hit "reset" on my Kobo - and all of my books were gone! But no worries, as he had it all sorted out by that evening :-) Just had to endure six hours on the plane with nothing to read... Fortunately he was able to restore all my books once we arrived at the hotel.

Here are a couple of shots from the resort in Mexico.

Ted & I with our rental bike!
Ted and I made another trip to visit Mom and Dad in Yuma, during the month of March. We tried out a different motorbike this year... I liked it! We had a fun adventure riding up through Yarnell, on our way down to Yuma. Ted did some research before our trip - as he wanted to find a curvey road... :-)

Mom and Dad toured us all around the countryside. We made a trip across the border into Mexico, then went on to see some sand dunes and a date farm in California. It was very interesting and an amazing way to see the beautiful sand dunes!

We spent a few hours in Mexico!

Ted & I at UofC (Spencer's Convocation)

We went down to the University of Calgary in June, for Spencer's Convocation! He graduated with Distinction with a Science degree, majoring in Kinesiology. We are very proud of him - way to go, Spencer!

Ted and I headed to Fredericton, NB, on July 5... Unfortunately that was also the day Hurricane Andrew was scheduled to arrive in Fredericton! The good news is that the Hurricane was down-graded to a Tropical Storm ... and we did not have to land in the middle of it. The bad news was that we only made it as far as Toronto. But, hey, it was sunny & hot in Toronto - and we got to have an adventure there too.

We checked into our hotel, had a lovely dinner, then headed to bed - only to be woken up around 1 a.m. by the sound of the Fire Alarm. A voice came over the intercom (I never knew hotels had intercoms) saying we needed to evacuate the building without our belongings.

We trucked down the 8 flights of stairs, to find firemen in the lobby and several fire trucks (lights flashing) on the street. Apparently a drunken guest had messed with the fire hose in the glass case - which triggered the alarm and set off the Sprinkler system on the lower floors. There was water pouring from the ceiling into the lobby area, by the elevators!

At the Edmonton airport, prior to departure...

In front of the Hockey Hall of Fame
We were sent back up the stairs around 3 a.m. - as the Fire Chief felt all would be okay for the upper floors. Then, at 4 a.m. the alarm sounded again - and the voice on the intercom told everyone to come back down the stairs with their luggage. (The damage was extensive enough that they needed to shut off the power to the entire hotel.) Ted was quick to find us a new hotel - and we arrived there and climbed back into bed around 5:30a.m. Yikes!

After sleeping a few more hours, we hopped onto the subway - and headed downtown, and then over to Centre Island. It was a beautiful spot to explore... both on foot & in our kayak!

...at a local bike shop in Fredericton...

Lobster dinner in Fredericton!

Once again I'm hoping that our winter will be short & sweet.

I wish you all a safe and Merry Christmas - and a wonderful New Year!

Merry Christmas!
