He explored the rain forests, wildlife reserves, saw the Arnel Volcano, and spent time at the beach and did some surfing. He was able to try out his new drone, and took some stunning photos in the rain forests.
He got back just in time to Celebrate Christmas with us in Calgary at Laura and Frances' place.
Early in 2020 Spencer was laid off from his job in the oilfield. He thought it might be a good time to do some travelling, so started to make plans by renting out his house. Unfortunately that was just as CoVid-19 was starting to take hold in Canada and we were put into isolation... and all travel was halted.
Long story short - Spencer moved in with us. After a few weeks, when it was obvious that the travel restrictions wouldn't be lifted anytime soon, he started shopping around for a large Van.
He had been interested in Van conversions for awhile - but never had the time to pursue it. Now he had some time. In early June, he and Louise headed down to Calgary - where he purchased a large Ford Transit Van.

He spent the rest of the year working on the van, converting it to a winter-capable year-round campervan. His new plan is to live in the Van while he travels wherever he is allowed.
With extra time on his hands, he built a a nice bench using some old snowboards - and a BBQ stand for Laura and Frances.
He has also been working hard at practicing the guitar, and was also able to spend a lot of nice afternoons and evenings with us out on the lake - wake surfing and wake foiling.
In August, he had the honour of being Laura's best man at her wedding. The entire bridal party seemed to get along really well, and had a lot of fun!
Spencer also purchased a 3D printer and has been having fun, and some frustration, figuring it out and working on various projects.
Spencer has helped out with the meals and snow shovelling, and has livened up our day-to-day discussions... but we think Spencer is really looking forward to the travel restrictions being lifted so he can get on with his life, and out of his parents house!
