Spencer

Spencer turned 10 in March, and is now in grade 5 at Sifton School.  He still enjoys his sports - any sports (as long as you keep score and he is on the winning side).  He is doing well enough in the academic side - but did I mention that he likes sports and Phys Ed.  He played soccer this summer, and is playing indoor soccer this winter.  We have a wonderful new indoor soccer facility in Camrose this year.  I have been talked into trying to coach.  I worry about my inexperience as a coach, but I think we are all having fun.  The league only has four teams, but we are all very equal - so the games are quite exciting.  We are getting a lot of fan support out to the games - mostly mom's dads, grandparents etc.  I think the fans have figured out that it's a lot nicer watching a game inside an indoor soccer facility, than standing outside on an outdoor field.

Spencer started Drum Lessons this fall.  He is in two classes.  A drum ensemble, (with about 15 other kids), and also private drum lessons.  So far he is using a snare pad to practice with.  I'm not sure we are ready for a full drum set in the basement yet.  If he keeps up with the lessons and practicing, that may be in our future.  So far, while he has to be reminded that he has to practice, he seems to be enjoying it.

Spencer got a radio controlled "Monster Truck" for his birthday.  Dad and Spencer spent a few weekends assembling it.  Should be lots of fun - but maybe Dad needs one too, so we can race! We finally have a BOY living out here at the lake.  A very nice family moved in at Tillicum (about 0.5km from here).  They have a boy and a girl - each a year younger than our kids, but close enough.  The kids seem to get along really well.  Brent, the boy, is on Spencer's soccer team and is quite a good player.  They are close enough that in the summer the kids can bike back and forth, but in the winter we usually drive them.
