Spencer Tara and Lady
Spencer, Tara and Lady had another great year, although, once again, they asked me to tell you about it.

While Spencer is no longer on the executive of the Calgary Ski Club, he still has many friends there - so Spencer and Tara were able to go on several snowboarding trips this year, both in the spring and early winter.

They also went to the mountains a few times during the spring and summer, just for a weekend get-away and to do some short hikes.

Lady, our "Grand Puppy" turned One in June and has started to slow down a little bit.  We get to "puppy sit" every now and then which is a lot of fun.

Lady really enjoys the lake in the summer - with no fear of the water. She likes to swim and feels very much at home in the boat while we water ski or wake surf.

Winter, however, seems to be her favourite season because of the snow.  She never gets tired of chasing chunks of snow or diving her nose into the snowbank! When the snow is deeper than her legs are long, she hops along like a deer.  It is a lot of fun to watch.  You can't tell me that dogs don't have fun!

Spencer's Truck

In the spring, Spencer decided to get a new truck.  He figured that his old truck (a 2008) was not reliable enough.  He negotiated with all the local dealers, and eventually ended up with a Dodge Ram 1500 4x4, loaded with all the bells and whistles.

I gave him a hard time, because he spent more on that truck than I have ever spent on any vehicle I have ever owned.  Oh well, if he is going to have toys, now is the time.

Spencer and Tara were able to do a bit of travelling in the spring.  Tara's boss, took all his staff to Vegas for a weekend, and Spencer was able to tag along.

Spencer and Tara were also able to get away to Varadero, Cuba for a week.

With Tara living and working in Calgary, and Spencer working in Camrose, there was a lot of weekend commuting; and while Tara really enjoyed her job in Calgary and liked her boss, they decided that maybe it was time for Tara to move back.

After a month of house hunting, Spencer and Tara purchased a house in Camrose at the end of June, and Tara quit her job in Calgary and moved back.  The house is a nice bungalo with a front deck and patio in the back.  It has a large double-garage (bigger than any garage I have ever had) and a nice fenced yard for Lady.

The house has been recently updated with hardwood floors and a modern kitchen.  It is in a very nice, established area with a park only a block away.

Shortly after taking possession of the house, Tara moved back to Camrose and started looking for jobs.  She was successful in obtaining a couple of part time dental assistant jobs - which keep her busy between Camrose and Wetaskiwin, however she is still looking for something full time.

Another highlight of the year for Spencer and Tara was Big Valley Jamboree in Camrose.  It is a 3-day Country Music Festival and a great big party.  Spencer had his ticket booked since the year before.

Spencer's cousins, Devon and Fallon (with her boyfriend David) also attended, along with loads of other friends.  I think they had more fun in the camp ground than at the concert!

Fortunately, everyone survived intact and no one was arrested......

In the fall, Spencer and Tara put together a volleyball team and joined the Camrose Adult Mixed Volleyball League.  I was asked to join the team, which of course I did.  How great is it to play volleyball with your son??

Spencer has been working very hard this fall.  The company he worked for stopped servicing the local wells, so he is now doing inspections in an area out by Drayton Valley.

This means a long commute, but the good news is that the company has provided him with a truck - so he is not wearing out his personal vehicle.  He works 8 days (10-hour shifts) and then get's six days off.  This works out quite well, as it gives him time to get things done during his days off.

I hope that we will be able to do some skiing together this winter, and lots of boating in the summer!
