Louise / Mom

Hello & Merry Christmas! Covid-19 continued to change our lives during 2021.

I’m still feeling very fortunate to live where we live … it could be so much worse. Last January we went to Lake Louise for a couple of days on the slopes. Super nice get-away! Laura even joined us on the hill for a day.

Ted & I started to do more ‘walking’ last winter - it was nice to be outside… & it was interesting to watch the activities on the lake.

There have always been many fishing shacks on this lake - but somehow during Covid, it seemed to be the perfect winter activity. Speaking of perfect winter activities…. my stamping/ card-making sure helped pass the time too!

Ted and I, out for a Walk

The winter months sure did seem long… It was nice to be outside walking - or to be riding the indoor bicycle that Ted has set up for us.

In March - Ted, Spence & I went back to Lake Louise for more time on the hill - stopping in Calgary to have a nice walking visit with Laura in Confederation Park

We were pleased once the Covid vaccines started to roll out… felt like we were finally making a bit of progress.

After a long (& mostly ‘locked up’) winter for my folks - they decided to move to a different retirement residence. We helped move them at the end of April.

Once again there were many move-in restrictions in place - so the move-in process was slow.

They have a beautiful 2-bedroom corner suite on the top floor with many windows (no more noisy neighbors above).

Our summer was very hot & dry… but once again we had lots of fun out on the water - as well as lots of bicycle rides into town. (Ted and I would ride to town - then head through the trails in town - such a great ride!)

"Ninja" lining up on the feeder!

Paulette drove out with mom & dad a couple of times for a visit - then they started coming on their own. We always love it when they come for a visit!

We always enjoy watching the birds. I especially love the hummingbirds!

This year we had 3 hummingbirds that had quite distinctive markings (usually I can't tell them apart ;)

“Slim” was our most active visitor … but we also enjoyed watching “Ringo” & “Ninja.” I’m hoping they will return next year.

In July, Cam - Spencer & Ted created a gravel parking area for our vehicles…. It’s perfect!

In August I met up with a few friends to learn about ‘Disc Golf’ - lots of fun!

In mid September, after several delays, our landscapers arrived to work on our yard. It looks awesome! I am looking forward to enjoying the new spaces next summer. Also in September, I headed to Calgary - to spend a weekend with the girls.

I always love spending time with Laura and Frances - it had been way too long since we last had a girls' weekend!

Stamp Camp

In October, I was once again able to attend a Stamp Retreat…

We weren’t sure if it would be ‘a go’ - but everything worked out nicely. Only 7 of us attended - and we each had our own table (in a large room).

All of the usual rules & restrictions applied - such a great way to spend a long-weekend.

In November, we made a trip to Rosebud to watch
A Christmas Carol. It was excellent! Frances was Stage Managing the performance - so it was a fun excuse to go for a visit.

We had another nice get-away at the beginning of December. We wanted to visit with Laura to celebrate her birthday…and ended up going to Banff to ski for a couple of days as well. It was so nice to spend time with our nephew, Carter, on the slopes at Lake Louise! On our way home we spent part of our weekend in Calgary with Laura.

Fun day with our Wing

Not sure where all of my time goes - but I certainly keep busy.

I hope you are all healthy & happy.

Best Wishes for a great 2022!

Louise!
