A few photos.....

We still keep in touch with our friend Olena in the Ukraine. Olena lived with us for 4 months in 2001 while on a Canada World Youth exchange.

She is an economist, and now works for the Bank of Georgia in the Ukraine developing new investment products for the wealth management division. She said it was pretty scary when Russia invaded Georgia earlier this year, as she had been there just a few days before, and has many friends and colleagues there. Fortunately things in Georgia are back to normal. The current Financial Crisis has hit the Ukraine harder than here. The Banks aren't lending money and some are not letting you withdraw the money that you have on deposit.

Olena assures us that she will be fine. She says that she has seen many crisis in the Ukraine and that they will get through it. Both she and her husband Kirill have good jobs so she considers herself lucky. This is a photo she sent me earlier this year. She and her husband Kirill were skiing in the Carpathian Mountains. She says that she has not tried snowboarding but maybe will next year. Olena, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
The only Nitinat friends that I saw this year were Jon, Michelle, Rhegan, and Mardi; and Tim, Val and Quinn - who happened to be in the Gorge in the fall. I even got to sail with Tim at the event site. I forgot how choppy it is there - Tim - you have to try the Hatchery!!

BREAKING NEWS...we just got an email. Tim and Val have a new baby boy - yet to be named....Congratulation!!
Our friend Liam flew out to Camrose with his new Cessna 180 to visit and to take me for a flight. He has had it re-painted and is fixing up the interior and instrument panel. It will be just like new when finished. It is quite an airplane - lots of horsepower and fast. I am looking forward to more visits and flights....
A visit to my cousin Sylvia's home. Sylvia's brother Brian, her Dad Ray, my Mom Muriel (Grandma), Spencer, Me, Sylvia's Mom Ina, my Dad Bill (Grandpa), and Louise. Unfortunately, Sylvia didn't make the photo - she was the photographer.
