Sam and Wyatt

Louise and I have known Sam Kuchera since she was born. Our kids grew up with Sam and her brother Zak, spending many days boating together and enjoying annual Canada Day celebrations.

Sam and Wyatt were married July 15th, 2017 at the Camrose Catholic Church. The bride and groom were then "whisked away" in Papa Wilf's (Sam's grandfather) 1929 Sport Coup for photos and eventually to the reception.

It was my honour to be the MC at the reception which was held at the Camrose Performing Arts Centre. We had a wonderful meal, and were entertained after the proceedings, by Sam's brother Zak, who is a professional DJ.

Louise and I have also known Kevin Roth since he was born. Neal and Sandy Roth, Kevin's parents, are good friends of ours who run a farm in the Rosalind area. Neal also worked with me (Ted) at the City of Camrose for many years.

Kevin and Kate were married in Osoyoos, BC, not far from where Kate grew up. It was a beautiful day, but very warm. The wedding was outside, on the lawn of the Walnut Beach Resort.

We enjoyed the wedding, and also going down to the lake for a swim to cool off between the wedding and reception....

Kate's side of the family is very Musical. Her mother's brother and two sisters are in Suite 33, a band based out of Lethbridge. The entire band made the trip for the wedding, and Kate's mom, backed up by the band, and sang a special song she had written during the service.

Suite 33 played at the reception. They were one of the best we have ever heard. We had planned to pull our "senior card" and leave early (as we had a long drive home the next day), but the music and dancing were so good that we ended up staying until the Suite 33 last song. If you ever get a chance to see Suite 33 perform, I highly recommend you do it!

On November 4, 2017, well after the crops were in, my sister Micky's daughter, Kit, married Justin Serhan in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan. Kit is the first of my Mom's eight grandchildren to get Married.

We all braved a winter storm to get there - but eventually everyone arrived safely. There was some stress when the groom's grandparents flight to Medicine Hat was cancelled - and they were stranded in Calgary. Fortunately they were able to find a bus, so were picked up in Medicine Hat in the morning. They arrived with lots of time to spare for the wedding.

It was the first time in years that all eight grandkids had been together, so the reception was a lot of fun! The only people missing from our side of the family were my Dad (grandpa), who wasn't feeling up to the journey, and my brother Brian and his wife (who stayed home so they could drop in and check on dad each day).

I think Mom really enjoyed the wedding and reception. She outlasted Louise and I, staying at the reception until about 12:30pm.

The wedding had some Harry Potter elements - with each of the four houses represented. Justin and his groomsmen, who are all hunters (or at least Justin is), had unique boutonnieres made with spent shotgun shells.

All of the Bride and bridesmaids' shoes had magical sparkles on the heels and their respective Hogwarts House Emblems on the soles.

The Groom and Groomsmen wore socks representing their respective Hogwarts houses.
